In cooperation with the entity institutes for statistics, the Agency for Statistics of BiH for the first time since 2009, is updating Master Sample Framework with an ultimate goal of increasing the volume and quality of statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina and further harmonizing them with EU standards. This activity is implemented through the project "Support to the Statistical System of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Preparation of the Main Sample Framework" with the financial support of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The purpose of this project is to obtain a new statistical sample framework for household-based research. The new Master Sample Framework will allow more complex pattern selection schemes that are characteristic of continuous research. Therefore, future research will address the problem from the 2009 Master Household Sample in which household changes over time have resulted in a very high non-response rate and a smaller representative sample.

Sample-based researches are one of the main activities of statistical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their number is steadily increasing. The lack of an appropriate sample frame directly reflects on the quality of sample selection and the quality of research results, and an updated sample framework is a prerequisite for the quality work of statistical institutions in BiH.

The subject of this project, which is being carried out in cooperation with the Prism Research & Consulting agency in Sarajevo, is an update for the first four quarters. After the project is completed, the update will be continued by three statistical institutions in BiH.

In the first quarter it is necessary to carry out list/update of totally 696 primary sample unites. The update will be conducted by trained interviewers and controllers who will have the appropriate accreditation with them.

Predicted duration for one quarter is 22 days, and the start of fieldwork for the first quarter is 9/17/2019. years.
