Statistics Quality and User Trust: BHAS Participation in the European Conference Q2026
The Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHAS) is participating in the 12th European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics (Q2026), taking place from 3 to 5 June 2026 in Šibenik, Croatia, and organised by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics and Eurostat.
Statistics Quality as the Foundation of Trust
This year's Q2026 conference brings together experts and institutional representatives from 58 countries, reaffirming its international significance and leading position in the field of quality. Under the theme “Official Statistics: Strengthening Trust, Shaping the Future”, the conference offers approximately 250 professional presentations. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of high-quality statistical data as a foundation for informed decision-making and building user trust.
The conference also focuses on the development and enhancement of quality management systems, as well as the challenges and opportunities arising from the application of new technologies, including artificial intelligence in official statistics.
Active Participation of BHAS Representatives
BHAS is represented at the conference by Director General Vesna Ćužić, Edin Šabanović, Assistant Director General of the Department for Statistical Methodologies, Standards, Planning, Quality and Coordination, Ljiljana Okuka, Senior Adviser for Quality Standards Development, and Fahir Kanlić, Head of the Section for Industry and Construction Statistics.
As part of the professional programme, BHAS representatives have actively contributed to the conference proceedings. Edin Šabanović presented on the topic “Statistical Education and Literacy as a Foundation of Quality in Official Statistics”, highlighting the importance of statistical literacy for the proper understanding and interpretation of data. Through her presentation “Quality as an Inspiration for Standardisation”, Ljiljana Okuka emphasised the role of quality in the development of standards and the improvement of statistical processes.
Knowledge Exchange and Further Development of the Statistical System
As a traditional platform for dialogue within the European Statistical System, the Q2026 conference once again confirms the importance of cooperation, continuous knowledge exchange, and the joint development of methodologies in the field of official statistics.
