Twinning Project ”Further Support to the Reform of Statistics System in Bosnia and Herzegovina” successfully completed
The presentation of the results achieved in the development of the statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past few years officially marked the end of the Twinning project ”Further Support to the Reform of Statistics System in Bosnia and Herzegovina” realised within the framework of IPA 2017, which was financed by the European Union in the amount of 1.7 million euros.
On this occasion, Vesna Ćužić, the director of the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the project leader on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasized: "I am extremely pleased to say that through the Twinning project 'Continuation of Support for the Reform of the Statistical System in Bosnia and Herzegovina,' implemented within the National Program for Bosnia and Herzegovina IPA 2017, we have made significant progress in the field of official statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In collaboration with experts from EU member countries, we have succeeded in improving the alignment of macroeconomic statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the EU acquis, as well as increasing the number of indicators and data in the areas of business statistics, agriculture, and the labor force. We have also improved the quality management segment, initiated activities for using data from administrative sources for statistical purposes, and contributed to strengthening the capacities of statistical institutions. The production of reliable statistical data is crucial to support the social and economic development of our country because well-founded decisions affecting the daily lives of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be made without them. In this context, I want to emphasize that continuous financial support from the European Union and expert assistance from the statistics of EU member countries are extremely important for the development of Bosnian-Herzegovinian statistics. I especially want to thank the statistics of Denmark, which was the leading partner country in this project, as well as the statisticians from all other countries whose experts participated in missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina or hosted our statisticians."
Ćužić also announced the continuation of activities to improve the statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina through a new IPA 2019 project, which will support further development and alignment with EU standards, ultimately resulting in more quality, reliable, and internationally comparable data for all users.
