Introducing the Second Partial Gender Equality Index
This year, the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina is announcing the second "Partial Gender Equality Index for Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2023".
Following the successful presentation of the first index last year, this new analysis continues the research and evaluation of gender equality in our country. The methodology we used is based on the recognized methodology of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), designed to measure the achieved level of gender equality in six key areas: Knowledge, Power, Work, Health, Time, and Money. These domains allow for a deeper understanding of the dynamics of gender equality in the European Union countries, as well as in candidate countries and potential candidates for EU membership.
In this year's report, Bosnia and Herzegovina calculated three full domains - Knowledge, Time, Power, while partial measurements were calculated for two - Work and Health, highlighting the need for further work and focus on these key aspects.
The publication "Gender Equality Index Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2023" is the result of cooperation between the Agency for Statistics of BiH, the Agency for Gender Equality of the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, and with the support of the Government of Sweden through the "Support to Gender Equality in BiH" project, implemented by UN Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This collaboration is crucial for laying the foundations for further steps in achieving gender equality in our country.
